2021 RICKSHAW Cabernet Sauvignon

90 Points – The Tasting Panel

We like to take a pretty minimal approach to our winemaking and tap into some great sources and make varietally true and focused wines. However, the one part where we get to really flex some skills is during the blending process. In the case of our cabernet sauvignon, we have the option of using small pieces of other bordeaux varietals to make it just so.

During the season of 2021, California overall received almost no rain. The summer had mild temperatures which allowed for the fruit to hang a bit longer than usual. All of the vineyards and fruit load were managed according to how much water was available for that specific vineyard. There were a few hot spells early in the fall which quickened ripening and accelerated harvest season. This inky deliciousness RICKSHAW Cabernet Sauvignon is a food friendly, Tuesday-night in-front-of-the-tv kinda Cab. Unapologetically bold, undeniably California, and complex enough that you might even pause Netflix to talk about it. The 2021 vintage is fruity and inviting; with tasty flavors of raspberry, cherry pie, and hints of vanilla and cedar to add just enough intricacy. Full-bodied, structured, and a whole lot of texture on the palate. Along, toasted oak finish lingers with notes of red fruit and spice.
